Scouting (Staff):
Personally Training with Paul Assad, Pro College Football Player Development and Scouting comments: Has basics coming along. Good accuracy. With improved kick off's can be a college prospect. Hard worker, golf background. Technically minded. Plays on the Golf Team so has management minded thinking.

UPDATED 12/09: This aspiring college player has really been working hard and is perhaps, a good fit for any D1AA, D2, D3 or NAIA program with grades, ambition and developing ability.Mostly executed pooch kick offs in high school. Has been Demonstrating major improvement off the ground skills with distance and trajectory gains on both kicking and punting ability especially, with footwork. Starting to look like a legitimate college kicker and may attract interest for scoring reliability. Became Oakdale High Schools All Time Scorer this year.

UPDATED 5/24/09: Making strides with Punting. Starting to find the sequences of hold and release with the steps and kick. Still very raw and getting use to Punting.

UPDATED 5/25/09: Kick Off was jumping today. Way to work thru the progression and get into the best position started seeing some leg snap and punch on the ball.

UPDATED 5/31/09: Still adjusting to the ground but starting to get the ball down fileld more on kick off's 3.5's 60 yards and long field goals. Range looks comfortable inside 45 off ground after that player is over-kicking still but working at set up and leg action.

No less then dramatic improvement this off season demonstrated at training sessions with range back to 45-50 yards with good trajectory. Player is starting to set up kicks better with position of plant foot and some posture adjustments. Did a great job last year as the starting kicker as a freshmen. Should continue to improve - Hard Working player and outstanding young man you root for.

Has improved strength and size to 5/9 - 193 up almost 30 lbs. since high school. Has improved his balanced and acceleration from the plant foot through the ball. Making 50 plus yard kicks in training and improving kick off's from 3.8 / 60 -65 yard kick off's. Will continue to work on set up and acquire game experience.

Career:OAKDALE MUSTANGS: Played varsity in playoffs as soph. All conference Jr. Kicker. Looking forward to solid senior season. Should get college recruting looks.

Has interest in Cornell and Menlo currently.

Personal: Father Dave Derby is a local businessman to the Central Valley.
