Scouting Update:
Paul Assad 2015 Pre Fall Update from Training in Modesto, CA Mackay will be a junior this fall and has continued to improve his knowledge and strength.  He has been experimenting with carrying more weight to get more power in cold weather conditions.  I feel he trades off too much flexibility with the bigger body and recommend a leaner build emphasizing running and returning to yogo so he can move better.  When he is moving well he kicks the ball dramatically, better.  We made a crucial adjustment to his kicking getting him deeper in set up to kick through the ball better but controlling the upper to lower leg sequences and his had success with this preparing for the fall.

54 yard Field Goal Almost set the Fordham School Record in 2015

Makay Redd Named Academic All-Patriot League

Redd, a Finance major, has connected on eight of his 12 field goal attempts on the season and 40 of his 44 PATs. He booted a 54-yard field goal, one yard shy of the school record, against Monmouth, and connected on a game-winning three-pointer with eight seconds remaining at Penn. He leads all Patriot League kickers in scoring with 64 points.

NOV. 2012:  Attended Cushing Prep Academy after a great career of football and baseball at Monte Vista High School in Danville, CA.  Has all the tools to be a great 4 year player. Contact for a referral.  This player is a gamer.  Hit the game winner vs his rival in high school San Ramon Valley.  Strong mental game and player.  Is also a pitcher and used to pressure and techniques.

  • PAT's - 95%

 OCT. 2012 MID SEASON UPDATE:
MACKAY "jOHN REDD, CUSING PREP ACADEMY: He has taken the road less traveled. Instead of going to Junior College or a school or starting Senior College Mackay Redd, the former Monte Vista Mustang Standout decided on Prep School. He hopes for a D1 opportunity next season.

Cushing Prep: won w35-7 win last weekend over Brunswick and now sits at -2 for the season. In the Brunswick game, all six kick-off

s went into the end zone with an average distance of 67.5 yards and a long of 71 yards.

Performance summary:
Average 65 yds/kick-off with a long of 71 yds
88% touchbacks (although league NESPAC Freelance allows run-backs from the endzone)
15/17 on PAT’s (2 blocked early in season when line was penetrated)
0/0 on field goals – no field goal opportunities inside the 50 yard line yet (as a reference: His game long last season was 45 yds and 4/6 with misses at 56 and 57 yds; practice long is 64 yds)

Paul Assad, Pro College Football Player Development and Scouting comments:
Career: Has natural ability. Seems very determined to develop his ability and play at the next level. Has already, made huge leaps forward with technique, speed and has core strength and leg speed. He has already, demonstrated good looking field goals 50 plus yards length and Kick Off ability 3.75 / 65 yds. This should go past the 4 second / 80 yard mark with instruction.

This player is new to football but comes from a successful background in soccer and baseball. It's typical that baseball pitchers are strong kickers and punters because of the ability to leverage speed and strength.

More updates to come.
