TEAM LINK / STORIES ON PLAYER:
Scouting (Staff):
Paul Assad, Pro College Football Player Development and Scouting comments: Player is among the hardest workers to come through Pro College Football. Worked with PCF Alumni and Staff Jason Wells, AFL First Team Kicker both from Lawton, OK. Started kicking with Paul Assad entering his senior season in high school. Was a standout, started at Air Force and transferred to KU where he follows Scott Webb, PCF Alumni and Big 12 Star. Branstetter has been fantastic on short field goals and PAT and will have to demonstrate his ability to kick off long with hang time and hit the medium and long field goals if he will get an opportunity at the next level. Currently his field goal elevation and accuracy is excellent. Has indicated he will work hard this off season to push his long kicking ability to the next level. Earned a scholarship after his first season as starting kicker.
UPDATED JULY 11, 2009: Field goals are looking very smooth and accurate from 40 yds in range but has the range for 55-58 possibly. Player should work to same swing from all distances. Has the strength sometimes looses position release releasing of hips on long kicks. Has significantly improved his kick off power. Has smooth fluent stepping patter is slightly long on last steps so working on steps in the power zone to be able to generate more pop and acceleration thru impact, more snap of leg action sometimes pulls from the upper leg too much and hip and timing. Showed long booming kick off's out of back 3.6-3.78 range then finally broke the 4 sec. barrier and close on technique. Has a solid onside "Pop Up" Kick Off - used in game vs Nebraska last season. Player works hard continues to improve.
